Microsoft is on a mission to sell you more Microsoft. That\u2019s why you get Copilot<\/a> when you ask for Gemini or ChatGPT. That\u2019s why you get Edge<\/a> when you ask for Chrome. That\u2019s why you get Bing<\/a> when you ask for Google. And that\u2019s why it\u2019s now pushing a backup solution that means you would likely need to pay.<\/p>\n Windows Latest<\/a> warns Microsoft\u2019s \u201cnagging won\u2019t stop.\u201d The Start menu now \u201cshows banners for OneDrive with an alert icon that says you need to back up everything to the cloud. In case you don\u2019t have Microsoft 365, you\u2019ll be asked to pay for the subscription.\u201d<\/p>\n New warning to use OneDrive<\/p>\n Windows Latest<\/p>\n That will cost you $20 per year for a home user or $60 for a business user<\/a>, assuming (like everyone these days) you have more than 5GB of data. The warning tells users \u201cwe want to ensure that you always have access to your files, apps, settings and passwords by backing them up to the cloud.\u201d Not just any cloud \u2014 Microsoft\u2019s cloud.<\/p>\n The price of saving your data<\/p>\n Microsoft<\/p>\n If you click on \u201ccontinue,\u201d you\u2019ll be directed to a OneDrive backup setup. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter how you see things,\u201d Windows Latest says, \u201cthis is an upsell. Microsoft wants you to use their cloud backup (like OneDrive).
