\u201cI\u2019ll say this for child molesters, when they grab you off the street and throw you into a van, at least they do it because they love it,\u201d Bill Maher joked during his monologue on Friday\u2019s \u201cReal Time.\u201d The context? He was basically joking that child molesters are better than Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.<\/p>\n

He got to that joke by first talking at length about the implementation of Donald Trump\u2019s draconian (likely illegal) tariffs, and, after explaining several of the likely terrible effects of these tariffs \u2014 and how confusing and unpredictable they are \u2014 Maher joked, \u201cIf all this seems counterintuitive to you, it\u2019s because Jeffrey Epstein wasn\u2019t at your wedding.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI really I don\u2019t get Trump,\u201d Maher continued. \u201cI really don\u2019t. The tariffs? Not popular. ICE going around there with their masks, throwing people into vans? Not popular. And yet he\u2019s doubling down on unpopular.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the ICE thing, they\u2019re just going after more, they need more people, so they\u2019re having a big recruitment program, no age limit, they announced this week. Doesn\u2019t matter how young you are, you can be 18. You can be old as dirt. If you like wearing a mask and throwing people in a van,\u201d Maher said. \u201cAlso a signing bonus. You have $50,000 signing bonus. You could put a porch on your house for that. Good luck to find anyone who could build it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher then talked about former \u201cLost & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman\u201d star Dean Cain, who announced this week that he\u2019s joining ICE.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe joined because heard that lots of migrants were coming into this country.
And it works out he was already living in a van,\u201d Maher said. \u201cOkay, I kid Dean Cain, but no, I think he joined because he heard that lots of migrants were coming into this country, and a lot of them were bad actors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then he got to talking about ICE agents specifically.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, if that\u2019s not enough, we have another wildfire heading toward LA. Oh, the smoke is so thick. Some of the ICE agents are wearing two masks,\u201d Maher continued. \u201cI\u2019ll say this for child molesters, when they grab you off the street and throw you into a van, at least they do it because they love it. You know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you are fleeing ICE, or you are fleeing the wildfires, or you\u2019re a democratic Texas legislator who\u2019s fleeing the state, it\u2019s great to know that America is united behind one thing: Fleeing,\u201d Maher added as he wrapped up his monologue.<\/p>\n
