WEATHER: For the full forecast, including hour-by-hour temperatures, follow this link<\/a><\/p>\nIt is a significant turnaround from Saturday morning when the temperature sat several degrees below freezing and felt as cold as \u2013 13 with the wind chill. <\/p>\n
And it should get even better to start the week, albeit with some showers. <\/p>\n
Right now, the weather agency is forecasting a high of 16 C on Monday. There will be mainly sunny skies to start the day that will give way to increasing cloudiness later in the morning and a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon .<\/p>\n
Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 14 C on Tuesday with rain. But temperatures will plunge again the following day, with expected highs of 3 C (Wednesday), 4 C (Thursday) and 5 C (Friday), <\/p>\n
The typical daytime high at this time of year is 8 C. <\/p>\n
Dave Phillips, climatologist for Environment Canada described the upcoming weather forecast as a \u201ctrailer\u201d for what\u2019s to come, but warned of potential \u201cweather whiplash.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s something that dominated the month of March, and so what we\u2019re going to see, I think, next week,\u201d he said, adding that going forward there will be more consistency.<\/p>\n
Phillips said that by around April 10, residents will finally see mostly double digit in the daytime. At night, the temperature will remain in the positives, and rain showers can be expected.<\/p>\n
But that doesn\u2019t mean the GTA is officially out of the winter weather. <\/p>\n
According to Phillips, data from the last century showed only two instances of the month of April when it didn\u2019t snow.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy sense is you can\u2019t say it\u2019s over yet,\u201d he said. \u201cIt could be a trace of snow, it could be something here, gone the next hour, but it\u2019s not cherry blossoms filling the sky.
