But do not despair \u2026 We will be rocking your town in celebration and in defense of America, American democracy, American freedom, our American constitution and our sacred American dream,\u201d said Springsteen. \u201cAll of which are under attack by our wannabe king and his rogue government in Washington, D.C. Everyone, regardless of where you stand or what you believe in, is welcome. So come out and join the United Free Republic of E Street nation for an American spring of rock and rebellion. See you there.\u201d<\/p>\n Springsteen tour will be \u2018very topical\u2019<\/p>\n Ahead of the tour kickoff Tuesday in Minneapolis, Springsteen told the Minnesota Star Tribune<\/a> that the trek is \u201cgoing to be political and very topical about what\u2019s going on in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement 4<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n \u201cMinneapolis and St. Paul, that was the place I wanted to begin it, and I wanted to end it in Washington,\u201d he told the outlet (per Variety<\/a>). \u201cThe E Street Band is built for hard times. It always was. These are the moments when I think we can be of real value and real worth to the community. These are moments that fill the band with purpose, so I try to fill the set list around those ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n Springsteen also said he wasn\u2019t losing sleep over the prospect that some of his fans who voted for Trump have lost interest in his music.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t worry about it,\u201d he said. \u201cMy job is very simple: I do what I want to do, I say what I want to say and then people get to say what they want to say about it. Those are the rules of my game. That\u2019s fine with me. I don\u2019t worry about if you\u2019re going to lose this part of your audience. I\u2019ve always had a feeling about the position we play culturally, and I\u2019m still deeply committed to that idea of the band. The blowback is just part of it.
