RICHMOND, Va.\u00a0\u2013 Behind a strong showing in both singles and doubles play, the University of Richmond men’s tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over UNCG Monday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. With the win, the Spiders improve to 8-8 on the spring season, while the Spartans fall to 6-12.<\/p>\n
How It Happened In singles play, the Spiders built momentum quickly, claiming three of the first four completed matches to secure the team victory. Cole Brashear<\/a> extended Richmond’s lead with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win on court six, followed by Davis Wiley’s<\/a> 6-3, 6-3 victory on court one. The senior continues to anchor the lineup, improving to 12-3 in dual singles this spring.<\/p>\n Otto Sewell<\/a> delivered the clinching point on court five, battling through a first-set tiebreak before closing out a 7-6, 6-2 win to seal the match for Richmond.
