{"id":571926,"date":"2026-03-31T01:48:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T01:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/571926\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T01:48:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T01:48:14","slug":"former-champion-announced-for-ufc-hall-of-fame-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/571926\/","title":{"rendered":"Former champion announced for UFC Hall of Fame 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the greatest fighters in the history of the UFC will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.<\/p>\n<p>Demetrious Johnson, who ruled the flyweight division, was announced as the latest member of the UFC Hall of Fame during the recent event in Seattle this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The UFC Hall of Fame ceremony takes place during International Fight Week in Las Vegas, likely this July.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson, a native of Washington, still holds the UFC record for most successful title defenses in history with 11, going from 2013-2017 without losing the belt.<\/p>\n<p>UFC Hall of Fame fighter was part of MMA trade<\/p>\n<p>Along with his family, Johnson was in attendance at <a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mma\/news\/ufc-seattle-results-former-champion-suffers-stunning-defeat\/62d2dc25b6cfcb784ee9b7f3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">UFC Seattle<\/a>, receiving a loud ovation from the fans. He will be part of the Modern Wing that includes Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn and Khabib Nurmagomedov.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Johnson went 15-2-1 with the UFC, helping usher in the 125-pound division by quickly becoming a star.
