A youth from Sooke on Vancouver Island has been arrested and charged with conveying threats after a cross-border investigation by Canadian and U.S. police.<\/p>\n
B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex B\u00e9rub\u00e9 said that on July 19, 2025, the homeland security unit of the Louisville Metro Police Department learned of alleged school shooting threats made by a 15-year-old Kentucky teen over the gaming platform Discord.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough their investigation, it was determined that this youth was in regular communication from someone from Canada. It was later determined the Canadian youth was living in the Sooke, B.C. area,\u201d B\u00e9rub\u00e9 said.<\/p>\n
Police learned the youth attended Edward Milne Community School, a secondary school in Sooke.<\/p>\n
B\u00e9rub\u00e9 said that on March 13, 2026, the Vancouver Island RCMP general investigation section began an investigation and recommended a charge of conveying threats be laid.<\/p>\n
The B.C. Prosecution approved the charge and a warrant was issued for the youth\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n
On March 28, police went to the youth\u2019s residence and made an arrest without incident. Electronic devices from the home were seized.<\/p>\n
The youth remains in custody pending a bail hearing.<\/p>\n
