Both players were assessed fighting majors.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a character human, and he\u2019s fearless, and that speaks to all that, and that\u2019s who he is,\u201d Morgan Rielly told media in Anaheim after the game, referring to Domi.<\/p>\n Said Matthew Knies: \u201cI loved it. (We) needed it. I think he\u2019s got a lot of heart. He gets his team going. At 18:21, Leo Carlsson scored his second of the game to send it to overtime.<\/p>\n Nylander also had three assists for his second four-point game of the season.<\/p>\n What probably mattered most in the Leafs dressing room was the response to Gudas.<\/p>\n If Gudas thought his answering was done with Domi, he was wrong.<\/p>\n Going after Gudas<\/p>\n The night of redemption didn\u2019t end with Domi, though neither Michael Pezzetta nor Jake McCabe got what they were looking for when they later went after Gudas.<\/p>\n Advertisement 4<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n Early in the second period, Pezzetta tried to fight Gudas, but wound up with a roughing minor, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct after getting a little too physical with linesman Ryan Gibbons. Gudas was not penalized. It wasn\u2019t a good look for Pezzetta.<\/p>\n Midway through the second, McCabe pulled Gudas out of a scrum though a fight did not result. Both players got double minors for roughing, while McCabe also earned a 10-minute misconduct.<\/p>\n Gudas, the Ducks captain, didn\u2019t have another shift in the game but remained on the bench. He played through a lower-body injury suffered in a game last week against Calgary.<\/p>\n All told, the Leafs did what they had to do, but let\u2019s be honest.<\/p>\n The Domi fight probably wouldn\u2019t have been necessary had the Leafs responded when Gudas hit Matthews during a game at Scotiabank Arena on March 12.
