The Washington Post<\/a> journalist Chris Colin admitted it sounded like he was throwing the lamest party ever.<\/p>\n But he was noticing that everyone in his circle was drowning in a \u201cquicksand of tiny, dumb administrative tasks\u201d, like wrangling with insurance companies.<\/p>\n So he decided to get everyone together for a social occasion, where they would tackle their financial<\/a> to-do list in an act of collective productivity.<\/p>\n The idea of an \u201cadmin party\u201d has gone viral since the term was coined last year.<\/p>\n It probably shouldn\u2019t come as a surprise given how we are all drowning in our own quicksand of \u201cI must get around to that\u201d jobs.<\/p>\n Whether it\u2019s disputing a charge with your bin company, wading through health insurance or getting your car ready for the NCT, these \u201csmall\u201d tasks coalesce to become one big soup of digital paperwork.<\/p>\n When the overwhelm becomes so great, the instinct to withdraw wins out for many of us.<\/p>\n We will simply let the car insurance roll over for another year, or the utility or phone contract.
