Jiri Prochazka is about to become a father for the first time, and it\u2019s all happening at the same moment he\u2019s set to fight for the light heavyweight title against Carlos Ulberg at UFC 327<\/a> on April 11th.<\/p>\n

That leaves his longtime partner Kamila Kordulikova in a tough spot: she\u2019s unable to travel to Miami with Jiri due to how far along her pregnancy is. If her due date holds,<\/a> Prochazka will be able to fight and then rush back to the Czech Republic just in time for the birth of his daughter. But in a new video uploaded to Prochazka\u2019s YouTube, she admits none of that is certain.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat awaits me? I guess probably giving birth,\u201d Kordulikova said of the situation. \u201cAnd on top of that is uncertainty because Jiri is set to fly away for the last three weeks of the pregnancy. So it\u2019s a bit mentally demanding, because you have to come to terms with the fact that I don\u2019t know when [the baby] will come, right? I was told by my midwife that you don\u2019t know the day or the hour, so you can\u2019t really predict it. So it\u2019s a bit demanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo what awaits me now is probably a challenging period alone, because in this state I can\u2019t go anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kamila was asked whether Jiri has changed since learning he would be a father.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefinitely completely, like it seems to me 100%,\u201d she replied. \u201cEspecially all those relationship things, like, his approach to a lot of things has rapidly changed with regard to the fact that such a big responsibility is coming, so you need to direct some energy there. So it definitely changed him a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn what direction, well I hope not in the fighting one. There I hope he\u2019ll still be the same, just as aggressive, scrappy and relentless and persistent. That for sure, yes. I hope he changes, but only in family life, and in competition he stays the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kordulikova has been with Prochazka a long time, back when he was \u2018a party legend\u2019<\/a> fighting for Rizin FF in Japan. She detailed his evolution from the fighter he was there to where he is now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, maybe he was more — I don\u2019t want to say cocky, but he went into the UFC with a different energy,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen he actually realized he wasn\u2019t there anymore, there wasn\u2019t as much room to play around. In Rizin it was different, there he could afford a lot more, sometimes risk way more. And I think that title fight, which he
ultimately took from Teixeira over five rounds, was absolutely exhausting \u2026 He probably realized there that he can\u2019t play those games as much anymore. That here, you need to be completely precise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo his approach has definitely changed since that fight, he now realizes that he can\u2019t afford to — we always used to say, he\u2019s like a turtle or a swan, always sticking his neck out somewhere. Before it worked out differently for him, so it wasn\u2019t catastrophic or anything, it didn\u2019t affect the fight that much. But now we know you can\u2019t do that anymore. So I think he\u2019s changed in his approach, in how seriously he takes the situation for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you win a UFC title that you\u2019ve been chasing for years, of course it sweeps you up for a while,\u201d she added. \u201cSo all that attention from the media and people in general, that was a big, big change. But I think no effect on him, as a person, his character, that didn\u2019t change, just the environment around him shifted, changed and new things came and it was all pretty crazy for a time.\u201d<\/p>\n
