(Photo: OPP)<\/p>\n<p>Residents could see a police helicopter over their neighbourhoods north of Brampton as it makes \u201cpreventative\u201d patrols to enhance community safety, police say.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP said on Tuesday that a police helicopter will be making periodic patrols above Caledon. The aerial patrols are focused on \u201cincreasing police visibility, supporting officers on the ground, and helping to deter criminal activity,\u201d the OPP says.<\/p>\n<p>Police say air support allows police to monitor larger areas and respond quickly when needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe OPP recognizes that helicopter patrols can be noticeable and appreciates the community\u2019s understanding as these measures are carried out in the interest of public safety,\u201d police say.<\/p>\n<p>Officers say there is no known threat to the general public, and the aerial patrols \u201cdo not indicate a change to daily activities in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about suspected criminal activity in Caledon can contact the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122.
