An inaugural Moving Forward Together Gala aims to make mental health services more accessible in Surrey.<\/p>\n
The event on Friday, April 10 is planned as a first-annual fundraiser for Moving Forward Family Services counselling programs, which provide low-cost and accessible mental health support to individuals, couples and families across B.C.<\/p>\n
The organization works to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent people from receiving care.<\/p>\n
\u201cCome out and support a made-in-Canada solution to address the mental health and wellbeing needs of Canadian residents,\u201d says a post on eventbrite.ca<\/a>, where tickets are $135 for a night at Crown Palace Banquet Hall, on Nordel Way in Surrey, 6 p.m. start.<\/p>\n Based in Surrey, Moving Forward is among the largest nonprofit counselling services in the country.<\/p>\n \u201cOur team of 200 student counsellors and social workers, along with over 300 registered therapists, offers sliding scale services in over 30 languages, united by a desire to address the massive gaps in mental health care in B.C.,\u201d explained Gary Thandi, executive director.<\/p>\n
