On March 30, more than 1,000 employees began moving into the North Tower\u2014the newest addition to the company\u2019s Vancouver tech hub and the latest milestone in its growing downtown footprint.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After more than a decade at\u00a0Telus\u00a0Garden\u2014where Amazon first\u00a0established\u00a0a major <a href=\"https:\/\/bcbusiness.ca\/lifestyle\/art\/office-tour-burnkit-railtown-vancouver-studio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Vancouver office<\/a> presence in 2015\u2014the company is now winding down its operations in the tower as it\u00a0consolidates\u00a0staff into The Post complex.\u00a0Completed in 2023, the complex spans\u00a0roughly\u00a01.1\u00a0million square feet\u00a0of office space\u2014fully leased by Amazon\u2014along with a substantial mix of retail and restaurant space at street level. Employees first began moving into the South Tower\u2014currently hosting a workforce of 2,400\u2014later that year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now,\u00a0Amazon employees who had been based at\u00a0Telus\u00a0Garden are\u00a0relocating\u00a0just a block away to the North Tower, part of a broader effort to bring more of Amazon\u2019s downtown workforce under one roof.\u00a0At\u00a0591,000 square feet\u00a0across 22 floors\u201418 of them leased by Amazon\u2014the North Tower is slightly larger than its counterpart next door. Some upper levels\u00a0remain\u00a0under construction and are expected to open in phases.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56434 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Amazon-x-Post-March-2026-1-1091x727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The move also reflects a broader cultural shift inside the <a href=\"https:\/\/bcbusiness.ca\/business\/tech-science\/2025-top-100-b-c-top-grossing-science-and-technology-companies-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">tech behemoth<\/a>. With a company-wide return-to-office mandate now in effect, all employees based at The Post have assigned desks, in lieu of the hot-desking model that was common during the pandemic-era hybrid period. Across its various downtown offices\u2014open 24 hours for employees to come in\u2014Amazon now hosts more than 4,500 corporate and tech workers. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fun fact: Amazon refers to its offices using nearby airport codes\u2014a naming convention used across its global office footprint. In Vancouver, that means locations like \u201cYVR14\u201d and \u201cYVR20\u201d, with The Post designated as \u201cYVR26\u201d in the\u00a0original\u00a0South Tower and \u201cYVR21\u201d in the\u00a0new\u00a0North Tower.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56435 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Amazon-x-Post-March-2026-16-1091x727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Dogs,\u00a0decks\u00a0and downtime\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inside, the layout reflects a shift away from fixed desk rows toward what the company calls \u201cteam\u00a0neighbourhoods\u201d: clusters of workstations paired with meeting rooms,\u00a0lounges\u00a0and shared spaces. Across the tower, there are more than 60 breakout and collaboration areas, ranging from small meeting nooks to larger, flexible rooms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56436 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Amazon-x-Post-March-2026-12-1091x727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Much of the office is built around amenities that extend beyond desk work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The space is dog-friendly, with features that extend beyond simply allowing pooches in the office. A designated \u201cpooch parking\u201d area lets employees drop off, clean and dry their dogs, alongside a rooftop deck with a dog park for daytime exercise. Through their official \u201cDogs at Work\u201d program, Amazon has more than 400 registered dogs that employees bring to work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56437 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Amazon-x-Post-March-2026-42-1091x727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>A range of recreational spaces gives employees room to unplug\u2014from a pool table overlooking the Vancouver skyline to sensory-friendly zen rooms with mood lighting and built-in sound systems, an \u201cExpressions Lounge\u201d designed for drawing, crafting and other creative pursuits as well as an outdoor basketball court that gets fully booked up come summertime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56439 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Amazon-x-Post-March-2026-57-1091x727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The office also includes a \u201cJust Walk Out\u201d retail area, Amazon\u2019s\u00a0AI-powered\u00a0cashierless\u00a0store concept adapted for the workplace. Employees can scan a credit card to enter, pick up snacks or\u00a0drinks\u00a0and leave without stopping to check out\u2014purchases are automatically charged based on what they take.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56438 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Amazon-x-Post-March-2026-31-1091x727.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>A nod to the building\u2019s past\u2014and its present\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Originally built in the 1950s, The Post is one of Vancouver\u2019s most recognizable mid-century buildings\u2014and that history carries through in Amazon\u2019s office today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Design work by B+H Architects incorporates elements from the building\u2019s past, including original mailboxes,\u00a0artefacts like a historic stamp press from Seattle\u00a0and murals\u00a0retained\u00a0from when the building used to be the city\u2019s main post office.
