Tragedy is bringing family and friends of an Edmonton man together after a driver going the wrong way on Anthony Henday Drive struck his vehicle just over two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Friends are calling\u00a0on the wider community\u00a0to support Kuldeep Raj, a father of two young children, and his wife. His family and friends are fearful Raj may never\u00a0recover from serious and life-altering injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are just praying that he will be fine in one year or so, but we don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen, if he will be normal and the same person he was before,\u201d Swati Kathuria, a friend, said outside the University of Alberta Hospital on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a great friend, a great father, and he doesn\u2019t deserve everything that\u2019s going on right now,\u201d another friend, Megha Pawar, said.<\/p>\n

Raj, 37,\u00a0was driving home from his job at the casino in the early hours of March 14 when he was hit head-on by a driver going the wrong way on\u00a0Anthony Henday Drive.\u00a0The woman driving\u00a0the other\u00a0vehicle was declared dead on the scene.<\/p>\n

Raj is also the owner of a liquor store and the sole breadwinner.<\/p>\n

Raj was sent to the hospital with serious injuries and was previously in a coma.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has some brain injury and does not have memory,\u201d Kathuria\u00a0said. \u201cHe can\u2019t remember about his wife either, so she\u2019s a little bit shaken and she\u2019s doing whatever she can for her kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other family members and friends are saddened, worried about their friend.<\/p>\n

Pawan\u00a0Kumar, Kuldeep\u2019s brother,\u00a0speaking to CityNews\u00a0in Hindi and Punjabi,\u00a0said\u00a0Kuldeep is a great person who never wished ill on anyone, but this one bad incident has derailed the life of his family.<\/p>\n

But they are heartened to see support for the family pouring in on\u00a0GoFundMe<\/a>.\u00a0More than $30,000 so far been raised within just five days.<\/p>\n

They are asking for more Edmontonians and Canadians to continue donating. Raj may be unable to work for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt least they should be very free from the financials so they can focus on the family, they can focus on Kuldeep for his recovery and his and her daughters as well,\u201d\u00a0Kathuria said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe helped us also whenever we needed him, and we are here when he needs us.\u201d<\/p>\n
