The all-women F1 Academy has added extra races to their existing schedule in Montreal and Austin to account for the cancellation of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in April.<\/p>\n

F1’s decision to cancel races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia<\/a> had a knock on effect on the F1 Academy calendar, as it was due to have two races at the latter as a support event.<\/p>\n

Montreal and Austin’s schedule for F1 Academy will now feature three races instead of the customary two to account for those lost.<\/p>\n

The added race means that fans with tickets for Saturday at either event will see two F1 Academy races.<\/p>\n

Saturday will feature the new “original race” and reverse grid race, while the feature race will take place on Sunday as normal.<\/p>\n

The grid for the “original race” will be determined by drivers’ second fastest qualifying laps, with full points awarded.<\/p>\n

F1 Academy said on Wednesday that an update to the sporting regulations will allow a third race to be added elsewhere in the future “either to maintain consistency in \u2060race \u200bcount across a season \u200bor to make use of additional available track time at an \u200bevent.”<\/p>\n
