\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Zach Cregger<\/a> and Zach Shields will write the screenplay for the upcoming prequel to the critically acclaimed horror hit\u00a0Weapons<\/a>. The New Line and Warner Bros. project\u2019s current working title is Gladys.<\/p>\n

\n\tCregger and Vertigo Entertainment\u2019s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon are returning to produce. Cregger is repped by CAA, Artists First and\u00a0Karl Austen and Michael Auerbach.<\/p>\n

\n\tWeapons\u00a0grossed over $270 million worldwide. Amy Madigan<\/a>, who portrayed main antagonist Aunt Gladys, won an Academy Award for Best Actress<\/a> in a Supporting Role. Madigan also won a SAG Actor Award<\/a> for her role as the mysterious relative of Alex (Cary Christopher).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is a woman who knows what she has to do, and she does it,\u201d Madigan said of her character<\/a> in an interview with Deadline before her Oscar win. \u201cNow, granted, some of her methods might be a little unusual. But she has that, and I think all women in our business should have more of that confidence, myself included. So if I can take that away from it, I\u2019ll say this is a win for Aunt Gladys and for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tZach Shields most recently worked on\u00a0Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire\u00a0for Warner Bros. and Legendary. Prior to that, he co\u2011wrote\u00a0Godzilla vs. Kong,\u00a0Godzilla: King of the Monsters and\u00a0Krampus\u00a0for Universal with Michael Dougherty.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn television, he most recently co\u2011executive produced Alma Har\u2019el\u2019s\u00a0Lady in the Lake\u00a0for Apple starring Natalie Portman. He also served as consulting producer on\u00a0Monarch: Legacy of Monsters\u00a0for Apple. Earlier this year, Shields\u2019 play Dad\u2019s Leg starring Rain Spencer, Emily Althaus and Ted Monte, ran at Los Angeles\u2019 Hudson Theatre from Feb. 20 to March 2. The dark comedy watches two estranged sisters fight over their father\u2019s soon-to-be-amputated leg while rehashing their past.<\/p>\n

\n\tShields is repped by Range Media Partners and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.<\/p>\n

\n\tCregger\u2019s film adaptation of the video game\u00a0Resident Evil\u00a0is slated for release on September 18, 2026.<\/p>\n
