Calgarians are being advised to prepare for poor weather conditions beginning Wednesday evening, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). <\/p>\n
A special weather statement issued by the agency Wednesday morning says heavy snow will develop overnight Wednesday into Thursday over central Alberta, including along Highway 2 and parts of Highway 1, particularly near and west of Calgary. <\/p>\n
Periods of high snowfall rates may reduce visibility and lead to rapidly changing road conditions. <\/p>\n
However, conditions are expected to improve by Thursday evening. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s unclear how much snow could fall, but forecasts are ranging from five to 20 centimetres. <\/p>\n
ECCC says temperatures near freezing on Thursday may limit snowfall accumulation. <\/p>\n
Temperatures are set to warm up by the weekend, meaning any snow that does fall will melt quickly. <\/p>\n
Travel conditions will improve for the long weekend. <\/p>\n
The storm continues what has already been a snowy start to spring. Residents woke up to fresh snow Monday morning, and parts of the city were hit with a surprise storm last week that dropped up to 25 centimetres in some parts.<\/p>\n
