Still, she knows just how important it is for both physical and mental health.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"9\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Working as a doctor, I\u2019ve seen first-hand the effects of poor lifestyle choices on patients, and the profound impact this has on long-term health,\u2019 she tells WH. And with three young children and a very busy work schedule, it\u2019s not neat and structured. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"29\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Coming from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/female-health\/a65827541\/womens-rugby-world-cup-athlete-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/female-health\/a65827541\/womens-rugby-world-cup-athlete-health\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"rugby\" data-node-id=\"29.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rugby<\/a> background, I was used to structured training blocks \u2013 12-week strength cycles, fixed sessions and clear fitness progression. But that just doesn\u2019t work for me anymore,\u2019 she says. \u2018I don\u2019t know if I will train once in a week or four times. I don\u2019t know how I will feel day to day, as that depends entirely on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/sleep\/a69630255\/4-sleep-rules-that-matter\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/sleep\/a69630255\/4-sleep-rules-that-matter\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"sleep\" data-node-id=\"29.3\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">sleep<\/a>, work and the kids. So instead, I have shifted to something much more flexible.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"34\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">What does that look like? \u2018I keep a bank of short workouts I can choose from depending on my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/sleep\/a706477\/low-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/sleep\/a706477\/low-energy\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"energy\" data-node-id=\"34.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">energy<\/a> and time \u2013 all around 30 minutes long: upper-body, lower-body, full-body, high-intensity, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/running\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/running\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"running\" data-node-id=\"34.3\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">running<\/a>,\u2019 Lucy explains. \u2018That means there is no pressure \u2013 I just focus on doing some form of movement that fits into my daily life. <br data-node-id=\"34.5.0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The workouts <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"39\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018These are the kinds of sessions I rotate depending on how I\u2019m feeling. Nothing complicated \u2013 just simple, effective and easy to start. Ditch the all-or-nothing mindset<br data-node-id=\"111.2\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"115\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Missed a session? It does not matter. Start again tomorrow.
