San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman was irate with teammate Casey Schmitt after the first baseman failed to make a catch during Wednesday’s 7-1 loss to the San Diego Padres.<\/p>\n
Chapman was seen telling Schmitt to “catch the f—–g ball” after the third baseman’s throw sailed over his teammate’s head.<\/p>\n

Instead, the Padres scored a run and extended their lead, though most of San Diego’s damage was done in a four-run eighth inning.<\/p>\n Chapman and Schmitt talked it out after the game and appear to be on good terms.<\/p>\n “We’re all brothers here,” Chapman said, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area<\/a>. “It’s the heat of the moment. I already talked to Casey. It’s all good.”<\/p>\n Schmitt, who’s gotten regular reps at first base this season after coming up as a middle infielder, held himself accountable for the mistake.<\/p>\n “We’re trying to win games,” he said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Shayna Rubin<\/a>. “I mean, obviously I’m not mad about it or anything. That’s baseball. I mean, those are things I should have done and didn’t.”<\/p>\n
