A former UConn Huskies star is set to miss a second straight season in the WNBA after sustaining another ACL injury whilst overseas, forcing her to undergo surgery for the issue<\/p>\n

Seattle Storm point guard Nika Muhl will miss a second straight WNBA season after suffering another ACL injury<\/p>\n

The Seattle Storm have announced that point guard Nika Muhl will miss a second consecutive WNBA season after undergoing surgery for a right ACL tear.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old had previously missed the entire 2025 WNBA<\/a> season with a torn left ACL suffered overseas in October 2024, which also required her to have surgery to repair the torn ACL and meniscus the following month, and she has now suffered the same fate almost 18 months later.<\/p>\n

It comes at a time when the Storm are undergoing a complete overhaul after dismissing head coach Noelle Quinn and the entire coaching staff in September<\/a>, following two straight first-round playoff exits. Elsewhere, point guard Skylar Diggins has called herself “God’s strongest soldier”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Storm announced that Muhl had once again undergone surgery for an ACL tear, this time in her right leg, ruling her out for her second straight WNBA season.<\/p>\n

Muhl sustained the season-ending injury whilst on international duty with Croatia last month, during a EuroBasket qualifying game against Greece on March 11.<\/p>\n

“Nika M\u00fchl underwent a successful surgery on March 31 to repair a right ACL tear and will miss the 2026 WNBA Season,” the Storm announced on Wednesday<\/a>. “Nika, we are with you and wishing you strength & healing as you recover.”<\/p>\n

Muhl also offered her own update a short while later, writing on Instagram<\/a>: “October 2024 & March 2026. S— happens twice but so does the get back. Thank you for all the love.”<\/p>\n

Included in the post were two selfies of Muhl from her hospital bed, where she appeared to be in good spirits, smiling for the camera, while the Croatian also received overwhelming support from her fellow WNBA stars in the comments section.<\/p>\n

“Sending you so much love,” wrote Los Angeles<\/a> Sparks forward Cameron Brink. “All apart of your testimony,” said Golden State Valkyries star Monique Billings.<\/p>\n

Others, such as Gabby Williams, Georgia Amoore and Olivia Nelson commented red love heart emojis, while fellow former UConn star Paige Bueckers<\/a> tried to make light of the situation by posting: “Two new and improved knees incoming.”<\/p>\n

Muhl had previously missed the 2025 WNBA season after tearing her left ACL while playing overseas for Turkish club Besiktas in the FIBA SuperCup in October 2024<\/p>\n

Muhl’s latest setback means she will have appeared in only 16 games in three seasons since being drafted by the Storm in 2024 as the 14th pick overall.<\/p>\n

In her rookie campaign, the former UConn star averaged just 3.6 minutes per game as she adapted to the professional level, acknowledging that she had to “earn [her] spot” in a rotation that featured several experienced veterans and star players.<\/p>\n
