A spike in recyclable materials appears to have put a strain on collection crews this week, with Circular Materials noting a long list of delays throughout Greater Sudbury this week.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a city spokesperson clarified that there have been no garbage collection delays.<\/p>\n
Circular Materials took over blue box pickup from the municipality on Jan. 1, and picks up blue box and green cart materials in the same vehicle.<\/p>\n
The delays, they said on their website, are \u201cdue to prior weeks\u2019 cancellation and weather.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDo not place items on snowbanks,\u201d they said. \u201cSet materials inside the mouth of your driveway and ensure items are clearly visible to drivers. Excess materials may be set out in clear bags or an open cardboard box no larger than 30\u201d x 30\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n
“Recycling volumes are currently very high, so in some areas collection may not be completed by the end of the day,” a city spokesperson said.\u00a0“Crews are returning the following morning to complete those routes. Because Blue Box and Green Cart collection takes place weekly, collection across the city is expected to be caught up this week and this should not continue in the weeks ahead.”<\/p>\n
