A Montreal author is unveiling his 15th book, a powerful story rooted in the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cI write to make sense of the world,\u201d said\u00a0H. Nigel Thomas.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd Then Again Begin\u201d is the title of the novel by the award-winning author. It follows a queer marriage tested by secrecy, family expectations, and unresolved trauma.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis 15th book, which is actually the fourth book in a quartet, brings to a close a cycle of characters that I\u2019ve been exploring over four generations,\u201d said Thomas.<\/p>\n

The series begins with \u201cNo Safeguards,\u201d followed by \u201cFate\u2019s Instruments\u201d and \u201cEasily Fooled.\u201d<\/p>\n

The books do not have to be read in order. Across the series, readers follow the story of Millington and Jay, who live in Montreal while keeping their marriage hidden from their parents in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.<\/p>\n

That is also where Thomas immigrated from in 1968, escaping homophobia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe human condition mystifies me,\u201d said Thomas.<\/p>\n

The book is already available, but a launch is set for May 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Montreal\u2019s UNIA Liberty Hall.<\/p>\n

The reading and book signing will also include a Q&A led by Montreal author\u00a0Chanel Sutherland, who is also Thomas\u2019s cousin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited about this because we follow this range of characters throughout the four books and I feel like this is a full circle moment,\u201d said Sutherland. \u201cEven the title itself suggests a beginning at the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited to see what that is,\u201d she added. \u201cI\u2019ve started the book, and we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a PhD from\u00a0Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, and degrees from\u00a0Concordia\u00a0and\u00a0McGill University, the former teacher now devotes his time to writing and guiding fellow authors on their own journeys.<\/p>\n
