Edmonton police are issuing a warning to the public regarding the release of a convicted child sex offender.<\/p>\n
EPS says that 39-year-old Alfred David White, is being released from prison on Thursday and is expected to live in Edmonton.<\/p>\n
White was previously convicted in 2020 of sexual offences that happened in 2018 in Calgary. Police say that he was also found to be in possession of child pornography between 2019 and 2020, and was convicted on additional charges in 2021.<\/p>\n
He was initially given a statutory release in 2022; however, police say that White reoffended in 2023 when he accessed and uploaded child pornography, and was rearrested in January 2024.<\/p>\n
Police do believe that White is likely to commit another sexual offence against a child while in the community following his release.<\/p>\n
He will also be subject to several conditions, which include the following:<\/p>\n
You will not attend within 100 meters of a public park, public swimming area, daycare, school ground, playground, recreational centers, community centers, youth shelters, public libraries, or any other area where persons under the age of 16 are present or can reasonably expected to be present unless you have received written approval from your Supervisor or designate.<\/p>\n
You shall have no contact or attempted contact (including written, or contact over the Internet, or any form of electronic communication) with any child under the age of 16 years. You shall not enter a personal or intimate relationship with any person until his\/her identity has been disclosed to your Supervisor and he\/she has been informed by your Supervisor of your prohibitions regarding contact with children under the age of 16.<\/p>\n
You shall have no contact, direct or indirect, with the victims of your index offence.<\/p>\n
You shall not associate with anyone known to have a criminal record for sexual offences except for participants in a program or individuals approved by your Supervisor.<\/p>\n
You must live at a residence approved by the Alberta Court of Justice or your Supervisor, and you must not change that address until you have received written approval from your Supervisor.<\/p>\n
White will be monitored by police to ensure he is following his conditions.<\/p>\n
He has been described as 39-years-old, 6\u20192\u2033 tall, weighing around 345 lbs, with blue eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n
Police say this information is being provided to the public so suitable precautionary measures can be taken; however, they note that any form of vigilante action against White will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n
