ahlie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some locals criticized her use of slang as inaccurate or \u201cgentrified,\u201d while others defended her, saying young Torontonians do use those terms.<\/p>\n<p>Adam DiMarco, Morrone\u2019s co-star and an Oakville native, clarified he isn\u2019t to blame, saying he\u2019s never heard anyone speak that way and much of it was \u201cjust trolling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both DiMarco and Morrone said they\u2019ll leave slang to the younger generation, joking that they should \u201cgo back to old English.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oakville actor Adam DiMarco says he is not to blame for teaching co-star Camila Morrone Toronto slang, after she received backlash for quizzing Jimmy Fallon on slang terms from the city, which many described as inaccurate.<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Morrone, who stars alongside DiMarco in Netflix\u2019s thriller series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, told Fallon that she was taught Toronto slang by her co-star during filming.<\/p>\n<p>She then went on to quiz Fallon on slang words and terms, which included \u201ctwo-twos is my word croski,\u201d and \u201cthat\u2019s too Mazza, ahlie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following Morrone\u2019s appearance, locals took to the internet to express their disappointment, with many calling her use of the slang terms \u201cgentrified\u201d and \u201cincorrect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, some internet users came to her defense, saying that many young people from Toronto do, in fact, use those exact words and terms, and she wasn\u2019t too far off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nt-read-more__title no-margin-top\">Read More<\/p>\n<p>However, her co-star is now clearing the air, saying he is not to blame for Morrone\u2019s knowledge, or lack thereof, of Toronto slang.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m from Oakville, and spend a lot of time in Toronto, I\u2019ve actually never heard anyone talk this way,\u201d he said in an interview with Global TV\u2019s The Morning Show. \u201cIt kept coming up in our algorithm during filming and we just thought it was so funny, I\u2019m pretty sure a lot of that is just trolling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Morrone, who was also present during the interview, added that she\u2019s not sure how much \u201cthe kids\u201d are actually using those terms, but still found them fascinating.<\/p>\n<p>DiMarco then followed up by saying they will now both be leaving slang in the hands of the kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re beyond our slang, we really should not be doing slang, let\u2019s go back to old English,\u201d he
