There were two little black animals cuddled in the snow, shivering under a bush.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775182930_567_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  alt=\"two ducks in the snow \" width=\"792\" height=\"812\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 812\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Upon closer inspection, Laura realized that the birds were a pair of ducks. The animal lover immediately knew something was wrong \u2014 the birds didn\u2019t look like wild ducks, and they seemed to be suffering in the frigid temps. In need of expert help, Laura contacted <a href=\"https:\/\/michiganduckrescueandsanctuary.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/a>, who sent a rescuer named Sarah to the scene.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">\u201cLiterally within 15 minutes, Sarah was out the door and at the park, and [she] had the shivering angels cozy in a warm carrier,\u201d Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0uk4KV26x3skhCYX227k5LNBkDCnwjeUtFDPyV6PrNzDdgxmMtBPAy8YUnzeWPcmEl&amp;id=100064620251902\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in a Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">Rescuers identified the birds as black Swedish ducks, medium-sized domestic ducks known for their black-and-white coloring. Their hearts broke for the birds, who had likely been dumped.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">\u201cThere are no ducks that I know of that are that size and that color who are wild,\u201d a representative from the rescue told The Dodo.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775182930_54_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  alt=\"two ducks in the snow \" width=\"792\" height=\"544\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 544\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Unlike wild ducks, domestic ducks cannot fly, making it very difficult for them to survive without human care. These two probably wouldn\u2019t have made it if Laura hadn\u2019t stepped in.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">Both birds were \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0uk4KV26x3skhCYX227k5LNBkDCnwjeUtFDPyV6PrNzDdgxmMtBPAy8YUnzeWPcmEl&amp;id=100064620251902\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">very disheveled<\/a>,\u201d and one of them suffered from discharge around her eyes. Sanctuary team members quickly cleaned them up and settled them in a warm place.
