Canada is getting ready for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, and with those preparations comes a new tournament that will be hosted in Edmonton and Winnipeg.<\/p>\n
In July, Canada will host the inaugural World Rugby Nations Cup. The competition will feature 12 unions who qualified for the Men\u2019s Rugby World Cup 2027, competing in a structured environment designed to accelerate unprecedented levels of competitive international rugby and create certainty of meaningful annual test fixtures with revenue opportunities moving forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year we were well received in Alberta, so we\u2019re looking forward to going back. 2026 is a massively important year for this team and that all begins in Edmonton,\u201d said Stephen Meehan, Head Coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cA couple of the teams we know from experience: 12 months prior, we lost a heartbreaker to Spain and we recently played Portugal, who are the newly crowned Rugby Europe Champions. Playing the likes of teams that are in our Nations Cup pool gives you the opportunity to play against your peers, see where you\u2019re improving, and the areas you need to continue to work on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Canada will take on Spain at Clarke Stadium on July 4, before Edmonton hosts a double-header on July 11, when Tonga plays Spain and Canada takes on Portugal.<\/p>\n
Winnipeg will also be treated to a double-header, as the final game for the Canadians will take place in Winnipeg on July 18, when Canada plays Zimbabwe, after Portugal takes on Tonga.<\/p>\n
