CHICAGO (AP) \u2014 Tristan Peters<\/a> capped a two-run 10th inning with an RBI single and the Chicago White Sox<\/a> beat the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> 5-4 in a wild home opener on Friday.<\/p>\n

Toronto\u2019s Andr\u00e9s Gim\u00e9nez tied at 3 in the eighth with a two-run homer against Jordan Leasure<\/a>. The Blue Jays went ahead with two outs in the 10th when Miguel Vargas<\/a>\u2019 throw to first on George Springer<\/a>\u2019s grounder pulled Munetaka Murakami off the bag, allowing Davis Schneider<\/a> to score from third.<\/p>\n

The call was upheld after a review, but the White Sox answered in the bottom half against Jeff Hoffman<\/a> (1-1).<\/p>\n

They had Vargas on third with two outs when catcher Tyler Heineman<\/a> threw wildly to first on Derek Hill<\/a>\u2019s bunt single, allowing the tying run to come in. Heineman had just come in after the previous batter, Austin Hays<\/a>, fouled a pitch off Alejandro Kirk<\/a>\u2019s left thumb. Kirk, a two-time All-Star, was going for X-rays after the game.<\/p>\n

Hill took second on the errant throw and came around when Peters lined a single to right, giving the White Sox just their second win in seven games this season.<\/p>\n

Hays gave Chicago a 3-1 lead in the third with a two-run single. Sean Burke<\/a> dominated over six innings after Grant Taylor<\/a> retired the game\u2019s first three batters. Seranthony Dom\u00ednguez (1-1) came on with two outs in the ninth and a runner on second. He struck out Kazuma Okamoto and then worked the 10th.<\/p>\n

Blue Jays starter Dylan Cease<\/a> lasted 4 1\/3 innings against his former team. The right-hander allowed three runs \u2014 two earned \u2014 and five hits in his second start at Rate Field since a trade to San Diego before the 2024 season. He also mishandled a throw covering first base in the first inning as the White Sox took a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Also Friday, the Blue Jays agreed to terms with left-hander Patrick Corbin<\/a> on a one-year contract worth US$1,000,000. He was optioned to the single-A Dunedin Blue Jays roster.<\/p>\n
