The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> made a move Friday evening to add some starting pitching depth, signing veteran left-hander Patrick Corbin<\/a> to a one-year, $1 million deal.<\/p>\n

The move comes with starters Cody Ponce, Trey Yesavage<\/a>, Shane Bieber<\/a> and Jose Berrios<\/a> on the injured list. <\/p>\n

The 36-year-old Corbin made 30 starts last season for the Texas Rangers<\/a> in 2025, posting a 4.40 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP across 155.1 innings. A two-time All-Star and a 2019 World Series winner with the Washington Nationals<\/a>, Corbin is set to enter his 14th MLB season. <\/p>\n

He began his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> in 2012 and finished as high as fifth in Cy Young voting, parlaying that success into a big six-year, $140 million deal with the Nationals after the 2018 season. <\/p>\n

Despite helping the Nats win it all in 2019, he struggled mightily from 2021 to 2024, posting a combined ERA of 5.71 in those four seasons. He then joined the Rangers on a one-year, $1.1 million contract and had his best season in years. <\/p>\n
