{"id":581164,"date":"2026-04-04T06:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T06:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/581164\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T06:20:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T06:20:08","slug":"ayao-komatsu-admits-haas-keeping-fourth-in-2026-formula-constructors-championship-very-challenging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/581164\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayao Komatsu admits Haas keeping fourth in 2026 Formula Constructors&#8217; Championship very challenging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Haas have had one of their best starts to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Formula 1<\/a> season in 2026, as the team currently sit in fourth in the Constructors&#8217; Championship after three races.<\/p>\n<p>Haas have bagged 18 points so far in 2026 thanks to a seventh place for Oliver Bearman in Melbourne, which he followed up with a fifth-place finish in Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p>While the Briton crashed out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandprix247.com\/f1-opinion\/japanese-grand-prix-takeaways-this-sht-just-got-dangerous\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Japanese Grand Prix<\/a>, his teammate Esteban Ocon managed to score one point for Haas by finishing tenth.<\/p>\n<p>With Mercedes emerging as the team to beat, Ferrari and McLaren are fighting for best-of-the-rest status while Red Bull Racing are struggling which opened the gap for the Ferrari-powered Haas outfit to benefit.<\/p>\n<p>But their Team Principal, Ayao Komatsu, insists it will be a tough ask for his team to maintain such a position for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;This year is going to be a very tough development war, and as a small team, it&#8217;s going to be very challenging.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But we&#8217;ve started this year very well. This kind of result doesn&#8217;t come along every single year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If somebody told me we were going to be P4 in the constructors&#8217; standings after three races, I would have laughed,&#8221; he admitted. &#8220;We are in a very good position, but it&#8217;s not about protecting that position; it&#8217;s not about really keeping that position.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s about maximizing our capability, looking at our process and forecasts, and then getting the best out of the car, our team, and our drivers, so we&#8217;re going to be focused on that,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Alpine have also had a decent start to their 2026 F1 campaign aided by their switch to Mercedes power and are just two points behind Haas, fifth in the Constructors&#8217; Standings.<\/p>\n<p>They are equal on points with Red Bull Racing, who are sixth.
