MONTREAL \u2013 Montreal police say a 56-year-old man is in critical condition after a suspected stabbing on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

A 911 call was made around 8:15 p.m. reporting a person injured during an armed assault near Ontario and Dezery streets in the Mercier\u2013Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal.<\/p>\n

Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant says the victim was found with upper-body injuries caused by a sharp object and was transported to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Montreal police later arrested a 50-year-old woman in a vehicle near Sherbrooke Street and d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans Avenue in the Rosemont borough.<\/p>\n

She was taken to an investigation centre and was to be questioned about the incident.<\/p>\n

Montreal police say they believe the stabbing followed an altercation between the two individuals, though the exact location remains unknown as investigators continue to interview witnesses.<\/p>\n
