Control your own destiny; that’s the message for the Ottawa Senators until the rest of the season. It hasn’t been an easy road and this weekend, it’s just as hard.<\/p>\n

The Sens have been plagued with injuries, off-ice dramas, and a division that seems to all be having their best seasons (minus the Leafs of course). With 7 games left and a a 54% chance of making the playoffs, the Sens can literally make no mistakes. <\/p>\n

Today, they play the Minnesota Wild, a team that has already clinched a playoff spot and are fighting for home-ice advantage. The Sens find themselves holding on for dear life to that final wildcard spot, fending off the Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets and now the Philadelphia Flyers.<\/p>\n

The problem with the Sens is that they are highly inconsistent and unpredictable. They play one of their worst games against a team like the Florida Panthers and then turn around with a tough and impressive win against a top team like the Buffalo Sabres so it’s really hard to predict how they do today. If they come out of this weekend with 3 points, I’d be happy but let’s focus on getting today out of the way first.<\/p>\n

Head-To-Head Stats\"\"Projected Lineup:\"\"Game Notes:Jake Sanderson is in a red practice jersey, so he might be drawing in this weekend \u2013 a game-time decision according to Travis Green. Having him back will infuse some much needed defensive and maybe help ignite the power play.The power play sunk the team in Florida and didn’t make things easier against Buffalo \u2013 it’s been trending in the opposite direction of the club’s once-terrible penalty kill. The Wild have a good PK themselves, but the Sens need to find a way to win the special teams battle against Quinn Hughes and Kirill Kaprizov.Scoreboard watching continues today but ultimately, the Sens need to focus on their own games because nothing will help them as much.I don’t think the Sens can possibly handle anymore injuries so let’s hope today’s game is a safer endeavor. Tyler Kleven left early against the Sabres and is out week-to-week, bringing the total number of injured blueliners up to six.Brady Tkachuk needs to be an X-factor down the stretch, and that includes dialing down some old habits. Stop putting the team in a bad position, none of those childish scraps or bench minors.
