{"id":582399,"date":"2026-04-04T20:23:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T20:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/582399\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T20:23:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T20:23:30","slug":"police-winnipeg-free-press-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/582399\/","title":{"rendered":"police \u2013 Winnipeg Free Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police say two people are dead after a targeted shooting outside a Brampton elementary school Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Peel Regional Police media relations office Laurie McCann says a teenage boy and a man in his 20s were both shot and died at the scene in the area of Rutherford Road and Weybridge Trail.<\/p>\n<p>McCann says the preliminary investigation indicates there was an argument between a group of people on the grounds outside St. Joachim Elementary School, which escalated into gun violence.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/69d12248a543da1602d17363jpeg.jpg\" data-pswp- data-pswp-width=\"1200\" data-pswp-height=\"800\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/69d12248a543da1602d17363jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"A York Regional Police patch is shown in Aurora, Ont. on Dec. 19, 2022. THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Arlyn McAdorey<\/p>\n<p>The media relations officer says one of the victims who was shot fled the area but collapsed a short time later.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McCann says a suspect or suspects also fled the scene, though its unclear if they left on foot or in a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>She says police do not have a description for the suspect or suspects at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McCann says Peel Regional Police\u2019s homicide unit is out canvassing and speaking to witnesses as the investigation into the shooting continues.<\/p>\n<p>Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has video surveillance or dash camera footage from the area on Friday night around 10:30 p.m. to come forward.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/69d131d5b4c452a555d73074jpeg.jpg\" data-pswp- data-pswp-width=\"4493\" data-pswp-height=\"2993\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/69d131d5b4c452a555d73074jpeg.jpg\" alt=\"A Peel Regional Police logo is seen in Ottawa, on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025.
