<\/p>\nA Winnipeg man has been left traumatized after being attacked with a hatchet last week.<\/p>\n
Rawley Walker, 23, says he was he was put in a head lock and beaten by two men on March 27 on Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg\u2019s North End.<\/p>\n
Walker was returning home with a pizza in hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cA guy just came at me, tried to grab the pizza,\u201d Walker said. \u201cI ended up just dropping it and being like just take it. But at that point it was too late.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said after biting the tip of one man\u2019s finger off, the other man pulled out a hatchet and started hitting him.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy hands, my fingers are very mangled. There\u2019s a sprain or possible fracture in this finger and another one in this finger. I have a laceration right on my forehead. That one was the deepest. It went all the way to my skull and fractures part of the skull,\u201d Walker said describing his injuries.<\/p>\n

The incident has also left Walker traumatized, he says.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time I try and sleep, it just comes back to me and keeps me awake for hours,\u201d Walker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s affected me a lot. I can\u2019t go outside or off my deck without bringing my dog or going in a group. I just don\u2019t want to go out alone anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
Walker credits his background in martial arts which helped him disarm the attacker and eventually get away.<\/p>\n
He said that if it weren\u2019t for a nearby fire truck, he wouldn\u2019t have made it<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now, I\u2019m pretty numb still. It\u2019s still all so surreal and I can\u2019t figure out how to feel or how I want to feel. It\u2019s just all overwhelming,\u201d Walker said.<\/p>\n
Walker told CityNews that two arrests have been made in connection to the assault.<\/p>\n
