{"id":582572,"date":"2026-04-04T22:21:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T22:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/582572\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T22:21:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T22:21:11","slug":"arrest-made-in-2025-toronto-homicide-one-suspect-sought","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/582572\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrest made in 2025 Toronto homicide, one suspect sought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A Brampton man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Scarborough last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65585\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65585\/\">news release<\/a> Toronto police say officers responded to a shooting at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, in the Sheppard Avenue East and Brimley Road area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police say the victim and multiple suspects had attended an establishment before becoming involved in a physical confrontation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators allege the suspects then \u201cbrandished a firearm\u201d and shot the victim. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene before the victim was rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As a result, 42-year-old Yueyuan Dong, of Woodbridge, died weeks later on Oct. 19. His death marked Toronto\u2019s 35th homicide of 2025.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/4SZLWJEN7RH5DHAUSOJSWXD4AI.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Yueyuan Dong Yueyuan Dong is pictured. (Toronto police) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On Saturday, April 4, 2026, 29-year-old Kye-Shawne Griffiths, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre earlier today at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police say Kai Chen, 30, of Markham, remains outstanding and is also wanted for second degree murder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/UH4LXZPAURD2HAXYFXQTH6REXE.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Kai Chen, 30, of Markham Kai Chen, 30, of Markham wanted for second degree murder (TPS photo). <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A third suspect, Donald Keeshig, 29, previously turned himself in to police and has also been charged with second degree murder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The investigation is ongoing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Anyone with information is asked to come forward and contact police.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Brampton man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Scarborough last year.
