MORNING SKATE NOTES<\/p>\n

Head coach Andr\u00e9 Touirgny shared that there are several game time decisions.<\/p>\n

Utah has recalled center Kevin Rooney and defenseman Dmitri Simashev from the Tucson Roadrunners over the last two days.<\/p>\n

Next Man Up<\/p>\n

With several game time decisions, the Mammoth won\u2019t have their lineup finalized until game time. However, no matter who plays, Utah\u2019s players will work as a group and execute their game plan against the Canucks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think at this time of the year, that\u2019s the next man up, and it\u2019s like that all year but especially at this point. Every two points is crucial,\u201d Tourigny said pregame. \u201cWe know we have good depth. We have a lot of guys who can contribute \u2026 the most important thing is focusing on that game and what we have to do. If you look at Vancouver, they play good hockey lately. You look at the chance they generate; they generate a lot off the rush, they defend well. (In) most of their games lately, they\u2019re off to good starts and take leads early in the game. So, it\u2019ll be important to have a good start.\u201d<\/p>\n

Building Off Thursday<\/p>\n

Utah didn\u2019t have the start they wanted against Seattle in their last game. However, the Mammoth were able to pivot in game, improve their play, and get a 6-2 win over Seattle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we were able to recognize that and rectify that as the game went on, especially even as that first period went on,\u201d defenseman Ian Cole said of Thursday game. \u201cAs that game went on, we were kind of able to slowly take that over. Really proud of our guys. We have a lot of maturity there being able to adjust midgame rather than kind of continue to perpetuate that and then let hat game get away from us. We didn\u2019t (let it), we grabbed it right away. I thought that aspect was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday Utah will look to build off the end of Thursday\u2019s game and assert that strong play early against Vancouver.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast game we didn\u2019t have the start we wanted; we had the finish we wanted,\u201d Tourigny explained. \u201cWe want to build off our finish and make sure we\u2019re up for the challenge early in the game. That team on the other side has a good start. They have the ability to create an odd man rush from the way they play in their d-zone and the transition they create.
