On Sunday evening, that question was answered on social media by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/freddy-ovett\" title=\"freddy ovett\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Freddy Ovett<\/a>, a close riding companion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/mathieu-van-der-poel\" title=\"Mathieu van der Poel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mathieu van der Poel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Van der Poel went all the way to the limit in cycling\u2019s Flemish monument, but in the end he had to admit that Tadej Poga\u010dar was simply the better rider and therefore the deserved winner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I looked down, I was doing 650 watts,\u201d Van der Poel said afterwards about the moment Poga\u010dar rode him off his wheel on the Oude Kwaremont.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like I got a little closer again after that, but then he accelerated once more. And that was it. The problem is that there\u2019s a phenomenon riding around out there, and I ran into him. That mix of enjoyment and suffering? It was mostly suffering, haha. Head down and just keep pedalling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The enjoyment came later on Sunday evening at dinner time, as could be seen via Ovett\u2019s Instagram<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/freddyovett\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> stories.<\/a> In those images, Van der Poel is seen enjoying Flemish fries and the usual snacks on the side.
