The iconic KISS rock star Gene Simmons has been getting into the movie business, and fans fans have been mocking him for doing something other than music<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Simmons doesn\u2019t seem to be bothered.<\/p>\n

Simmons posted a selfie video last Thursday promoting his new survival thriller movie<\/a> \u201cDeep Water,\u201d set for release May 1. Simmons is a producer of the movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI may actually show up unannounced at some movie theaters across the country to watch the movie with you,\u201d he teased in a post on X.<\/p>\n

An account titled \u201cThe KISS Army General,\u201d and self-described as a fan of Simmons\u2019 rock band, replied to his post, asking sarcastically, \u201cDon\u2019t you have ENOUGH money yet Gene???\u201d<\/p>\n

Simmons responded to what he said, saying it was a \u201closer\u2019s question.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWarren Buffet, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk all get up every day and try to make more,\u201d the rock star said. \u201cNo matter how much they\u2019ve got. Get out of your losers\u2019s mentality, and try to win in life, every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simmons made most of his fortune as the bassist and co-lead singer of KISS. He has a net worth of about $400 million<\/a> after a humble start to life in Israel as the son of Jewish refugees from Hungary.<\/p>\n

In 2024, KISS\u2019s song catalogue, image, likeness and name was sold for $300 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Much of his wealth is from licensing deals using the KISS name on products as diverse as pinball machines and condoms.<\/p>\n

The branding has reportedly generated $1 billion in licensing since the band started in 1973, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Simmons has also written books and participated in reality show contests. When it comes to the movie business, he\u2019s produced films as far back as 1999 and even acted in some movies like \u201cRunaway\u201d in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

In the public sphere, Simmons has not been afraid to speak his mind on controversial issues. Last month, he made headlines tearing into celebrities who comment on politics, telling them to \u201cshut the f\u2013k up.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n

\u201cDo your art and shut up. Nobody\u2019s interested in your opinions, that includes me. Who I vote for. Who I like. People in America work hard for a living and they don\u2019t want to be lectured to by people who live in mansions and drive Rolls-Royces,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
