In Brampton, Canada, Khalistan supporters raised anti-India slogans outside the Triveni Mandir. The gathering of Khalistanis created a tense atmosphere in the city for about two hours. To prevent any violent incidents, Canadian police deployed a large force.<\/p>\n

The Khalistanis, while chanting slogans, claimed their right over Haryana-Delhi and Bikaner. Meanwhile, on social media, it is being claimed that these Khalistan supporters were hired for the protest.<\/p>\n

On X, a user named Darshan Maharaja wrote that Khalistani militants lured people by offering $100 each (\u20b99305 approximately). As a result, around 40 to 50 people were incited to raise slogans.<\/p>\n

On the afternoon of 5 March, as devotees were gathering in the temple for worship, Khalistan supporters began assembling on the road in front of the temple between around 12 pm and 2 pm. The banned organisation, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), staged a protest outside Hindu temples.<\/p>\n

A similar protest was planned outside the Laxmi Narayan Temple in Surrey, British Columbia, but there, the Khalistanis were not allowed to demonstrate.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses reported that around 40 people were present at the protest. They stood behind metal barricades placed along the roadside, waving yellow Khalistani flags. The protesters also held some controversial posters with the word \u201cWANTED\u201d and pictures of certain individuals.<\/p>\n

The most shocking twist in the entire episode came when analyst and freelance journalist Darshan Maharaja revealed on the social media platform X. Maharaja reported that an off-camera source at the scene told him that each participant in this protest was being paid 100 Canadian dollars to join.<\/p>\n

This claim quickly went viral on social media, raising serious questions about these protests. Critics argue that in Canada, the Khalistani movement is now being kept alive by hiring crowds for show.<\/p>\n

Darshan Maharaja, taking a dig at Canadian politics, said that over the past 50 years, politicians here have protected such elements in pursuit of votes and donations. The result is that these people have now become uncontrollable.<\/p>\n

Tight security deployed to prevent clashes<\/p>\n

Considering the sensitivity of the protest, the Peel Regional Police remained alert. Police white SUVs were patrolling the streets around the temple continuously. A 100-metre safety zone was established to prevent any potential clashes. Due to the police\u2019s vigilance, there was no violence or disturbance.<\/p>\n

Another interesting aspect of the protest was that, despite the sensitive issue, the Canadian media did not cover the Khalistan supporters. The local Hindu community alleges that Canadian media often overlooks such matters.<\/p>\n

Hindu community strongly reacts<\/p>\n

The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) and Triveni Temple administration condemned the protest. Community leaders stated that the sole purpose of such political demonstrations outside places of worship is to intimidate devotees and disturb peace.<\/p>\n

In a statement, HCF said, \u201cWe will defend our right to worship. No threats or provocative actions can make us waver in our faith.\u201d Temple-goers also expressed anger that they had to face police barricades and protests just to visit their place of worship.<\/p>\n

Post war erupts on social media<\/p>\n

Indian and Hindu users described the protest as an ISI-sponsored drama and mocked the claim of paying $100 to participants, saying the truth about this movement has now come out. A large section of the Sikh community also distanced themselves from the protesters, saying that 20\u201325 people do not represent the entire community and that they fully respect the temple.<\/p>\n
