The gantry then slides forward and uses the previously constructed span as support for building the next section of guideway.

The four gantries being used were given names based on where they would be used the most.

The Langley Launcher will begin installing guideway segments from the 184 Street Station through to the Langley City Centre Station, the last stop on the line.

This gantry has the biggest workload and will be lifting roughly 1,350 elevated guideway segments into place by the time the SkyTrain extension is done in 2029.

The other gantries were dubbed the Fleetwood Flyer, the Surrey Sprinter, and the Clayton Clipper.

Curious about Langley’s SkyTrain construction?
