One of the most iconic voices in Canadian sports is stepping away as Scott Oake has announced he intends to retire after the 2025-26 Stanley Cup Playoffs.<\/p>\n
The native of Sydney, N.S., who has lived in Winnipeg, Man. for most of his professional life, has been a mainstay on Hockey Night in Canada since 1989. He has hosted the second game since the 2003-04 season with cohosts such as Louie DeBrusk, Kelly Hrudey, and Kevin Weekes.<\/p>\n
Oake previously hosted the\u00a0CFL on CBC\u00a0from 1988 to 1996, a time during which he covered John Candy\u2019s memorable tenure as part-owner of the Toronto Argonauts and the league\u2019s U.S. expansion efforts. He has also covered several Olympic Games, including rowing and skiing events.<\/p>\n

Oake is a member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame and has been awarded the Order of Manitoba, Order of Canada, and a Gemini Award.
