{"id":586446,"date":"2026-04-06T19:28:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T19:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/586446\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T19:28:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T19:28:08","slug":"city-of-toronto-warming-centres-opening-monday-evening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/586446\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Toronto warming centres opening Monday evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Toronto braces for another cold stretch, the City is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/community-people\/housing-shelter\/homeless-help\/toronto-warming-centres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">opening its five warming centres<\/a> on Monday evening for those who need to warm up or need access to a washroom.<\/p>\n<p>Warming centres also provide resting spaces, meals and referrals to emergency shelters.<\/p>\n<p>As a general rule of thumb, the City opens warming centres when temperatures dip down to -5 C or when Environment and Climate Change Canada issues a winter weather event warning.<\/p>\n<p>Monday will see a low of -3 C towards the evening and into the overnight hours, along with wet snow. Tuesday is expected to be the coldest day of the week with a high of 2 C and a low of -5 C.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWarming Centres are pet-friendly and focus on getting and keeping vulnerable residents inside,\u201d reads the City\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Walk-ins are welcome at all warming centres and no prior referral is required.
