Police are reminding Ontario residents that impaired driving rules extend to lawn mowers, and not just passenger vehicles, following an incident north of Brampton last week.<\/p>\n
The OPP says an officer with the Caledon detachment was in the area of King Street and Highway 10 on Thursday around 7:30 p.m. when they spotted a person operating a ride-on lawn mower.<\/p>\n
Police say conditions were foggy with reduced visibility, and that the man was operating the lawn tractor without wearing any reflective clothing.<\/p>\n
An impaired driving investigation led to charges for the 57-year-old male driver, including operation while Impaired \u2013 alcohol, and operation while prohibited.<\/p>\n
The incident has police reminding the public that operating any motorized vehicle while impaired, including lawn tractors and farm equipment, \u201cposes a significant risk to the driver and the public.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anyone who witnesses a suspected impaired or unsafe driver can report it to police by calling 911 when it is safe to do so.
