Surrey, White Rock junior golfers win at weekend Morgan Creek tournament<\/p>\n

Young golfers from Surrey and White Rock lit up the leaderboard with outstanding scores after a weekend Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour\u2019s (MJT) junior Worlds qualifier at Morgan Creek Golf Course.<\/p>\n
More than 110 young male and female golfers played the junior tour tournament at the Surrey course Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5), the first of two events in the MJT RINK Golf Academy series this season, according to a release.<\/p>\n
Athletes competed for AJGA performance-based entry stars and shortlisted exemptions into the Uswing Mojing Junior World Golf Championship, along with additional qualifying opportunities for the MJT East Coast Junior Championship and Team BC for the Junior America\u2019s Cup.<\/p>\n
Surrey\u2019s Andy (Yul) Koh, 15, claimed the MJT Juvenile Boys division title with fantastic scores of 70 and 72 (142), highlighted by eight birdies and an eagle over two rounds.<\/p>\n
Koh credited his off-season work, saying he \u201cpracticed really hard to improve from last season\u201d and \u201cworked really hard on my putting.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event was amazing, it was a 10\/10 event. Everyone was super nice and the course was in great condition,\u201d he said in the release.<\/p>\n
White Rock\u2019s Daniel Moon, 14, dominated the MJT Bantam Boys division with outstanding rounds of 69 and a tournament-low 66 (135).<\/p>\n
His six-under-par second round and 13 total birdies powered him to a decisive win.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel very good,\u201d said Moon, who also thanked his supportive parents, and rated the tournament a \u201c10\/10.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surrey\u2019s Andy-Yanfeng Liu, 17, also placed second in the MJT Junior Boys division, with a 73, 74 (147) scorecard.<\/p>\n
Both Moon and Koh are now qualified for the MJT East Coast Junior Championship and are shortlisted for the Uswing Mojing Junior World Golf Championship.<\/p>\n
