Cleetus McFarland does want to race in the NASCAR O\u2019Reilly Series race on April 25 at Talladega Superspeedway and says he will find out on Tuesday if he did enough over the weekend at Rockingham Speedway to be approved.<\/p>\n
He spoke to the topic on Monday in his Bald Eagles podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow we\u2019ve got to wait for an approval for Talladega which will come (Tuesday) whether we\u2019re approved or not for me to run the O\u2019Reilly car,\u201d Cleetus said on Bald Eagles. \u201cReally want to, but it\u2019s in NASCAR\u2019s hands.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 31-year-old YouTuber and amateur racer also added \u2018I don\u2019t care\u2019 either way as a more realistic target were always the summer races at Daytona and Talladega.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t ruin anyone\u2019s race. Whatever they come back with, it is what it is,\u201d McFarland said. \u201cI think a lot of people on the internet are thinking I shouldn\u2019t be approved. I don\u2019t care whether I\u2019m approved or not. I did not come into this opportunity saying, \u2018NASCAR needs to approve me.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI never, in any instance, thought they should approve me. I just got this opportunity and said, \u2018Great, what can we do?\u2019 If they approve me to run \u2018Dega, I\u2019m running it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the NOAPS race on Saturday, one in which Cleetus finished six laps down, but did make it to the finish after one spin and several half-spins, Richard Childress Racing executive Danny Lawrence told Motorsport.com he wasn\u2019t sure that enough was done to warrant a\u00a0superspeedway license<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, they\u2019ll look at everything,\u201d Lawrence said. \u201cThey might ask us to run another race because the thing about it is we didn\u2019t get to do a live pit stop. There were a lot of things they wanted to see happen that didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen he got sideways early, we automatically went into this conservation mode of just keep rolling and don\u2019t push it too hard. So, it\u2019s going to be close, but I would not be surprised if NASCAR didn\u2019t want us to run another race before we got to Daytona and Talladega.
