{"id":588833,"date":"2026-04-07T21:28:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T21:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/588833\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T21:28:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T21:28:15","slug":"report-finds-metro-vancouver-home-sales-only-up-relative-to-slump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/588833\/","title":{"rendered":"report finds Metro Vancouver home sales only up relative to slump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Experts say a reported jump in home sales last month doesn\u2019t capture the full story of the Metro Vancouver housing market.<\/p>\n<p>Home sales in the region rose 22 per cent from February to March \u2014 a typical sign of spring momentum \u2014 but according to <a href=\"https:\/\/housesigma.com\/blog-en\/infographic-what-metro-vancouvers-22-spring-real-estate-sales-bounce-really-means\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">HouseSigma\u2019s March 2026 Market Watch<\/a> analysis, the broader trend is much slower.<\/p>\n<p>Sales dropped 4.8 per cent compared to the same month last year and were 42 per cent below the 10-year average.<\/p>\n<p>House Sigma\u2019s Joannah Connolly says the month stands out against an even longer span of time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s actually the second slowest March for sales in our 24-year transaction history,\u201d said Connolly.<\/p>\n<p>Connolly says while the season does typically bring momentum, the market remains subdued, with buyers waiting for prices to drop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuyers started thinking, \u2018Well, if prices are coming down, they might come down further. So we\u2019re going to sit on the sidelines here and see if we can get an even better deal in 2026, perhaps.\u2019 And now we\u2019re getting to spring, 2026, and sales are not picking up.
