Mariah Carey has always been iconic, but her recent comment about Katy Perry\u2019s Blue Origin space flight<\/a> might take the cake. You see, she had no clue the \u201cFirework\u201d singer even went to space.<\/p>\n

On the Scott Mills Breakfast Show<\/a> on BBC Radio 2 on Aug. 7, Carey was asked by host Scott Mills whether she would \u201cfancy going to space like Katy Perry did.\u201d This was when the conversation went awry quickly.<\/p>\n

Wearing oversized dark sunglasses, Carey looked confused, responding, \u201cDid she go to space?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot for long,\u201d Mills said<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere\u2019d she go?\u201d Carey continued as an off-camera crew member discussed Perry\u2019s journey. \u201cInto orbit and back,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s like floating in the\u2026\u201d Carey said, looking rather perplexed. \u201cAnd this is true?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve not made this up,\u201d Mills said sincerely. \u201cThis is true\u2026 she was proper in space.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWow. Alright, Katy,\u201d Carey said nonchalantly. \u201cI\u2019m not mad at her. That\u2019s pretty amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mills joked that Perry \u201chas not stopped talking about it <\/a>since\u201d and was curious if Carey would be interested in hopping about Jeff Bezos\u2019 space craft.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s when Carey pulled the ultimate quip. She said, \u201cI think I\u2019ve done enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carey knows better than to go up into space for 11 minutes, even if she didn\u2019t hear about the controversial New Shepard mission. Yet Perry and her crewmates, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguy\u1ec5n, Gayle King, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren S\u00e1nchez, heard weeks of criticism because the flight seemed like a wealthy privilege in an era when many people are struggling.<\/p>\n

Perry reportedly enjoyed the mission, but she did have some regrets in the aftermath, per the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cKaty doesn\u2019t regret going to space. It was life-changing,\u201d an insider told the media outlet. \u201cWhat she does regret is making\u00a0a public spectacle<\/a>\u00a0out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perry went all-out while she was floating in space<\/a>, sharing her set list for her\u00a0Lifetimes Tour\u00a0on a butterfly, honoring her four-year-old daughter Daisy with a flower, and kissing the ground after the quick jaunt.<\/p>\n

Carey may have missed all of the fuss in April, but she\u2019s going to keep her feet firmly grounded on planet Earth.<\/p>\n
