Catherine O\u2019Hara\u2019s brother is opening up about <\/a>the \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek\u201d star\u2019s final days.<\/p>\n

On Sunday\u2019s episode of his \u201cDreams of Our Loved Ones\u201d podcast<\/a>, Michael P. O\u2019Hara revealed that his sister \u201cwasn\u2019t talking much in the end\u201d before her death<\/a> at the age of 71 in January.<\/p>\n

Michael explained that Catherine, who was a resident of Los Angeles, \u201cdidn\u2019t live close by\u201d and that she \u201cdidn\u2019t really want to talk on the phone.\u201d Because of that, it made the \u201cHome Alone\u201d star recently coming to him in a dream all the more special.<\/p>\n

The podcaster added that the \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek\u201d actress (pictured here on Sept. 7, 2025) \u201cdidn\u2019t really want to talk on the phone,\u201d and she didn\u2019t live close by as she was a resident of Los Angeles. Getty Images<\/p>\n

Michael explained to listeners that the vivid moment came \u201cdays or a few days before\u201d Catherine died.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always cherish the times I can meet with a loved one in the dream state. And I was hugging her, which was really beautiful. And I guess it was sort of a goodbye,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince then, I\u2019ve had a lovely dream where I was visiting her, and she was in a new house and it was being renovated, and she was really busy choosing furniture and couches. And she said, \u2018You can sleep here anytime, Michael. You can come over and stay any time.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael went on to say that the dream was reminiscent of a real-life memory he had, from when Catherine was in the sketch comedy ensemble \u201cSecond City Television.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was apprenticing at the Windsor Arms Hotel,\u201d he recounted. \u201cI would go over and sleep over at her place some nights because she had an extra bedroom. Yeah, pretty cool. But yeah, it was beautiful. She was just so happy and very busy in the other world that she\u2019s now in, but yeah, it\u2019s beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael added, \u201cThe love, you know, continues no matter what. They\u2019re always with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Page Six previously reported, Catherine died on Jan. 30\u00a0from a pulmonary embolism<\/a>, sending shockwaves through Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Prior to her passing, the beloved icon had starred as ousted movie producer Patty Leigh in Season 1 of \u201cThe Studio.\u201d <\/p>\n

Catherine was set to come back for Season 2, but ended up missing the beginning of filming<\/a> just days before she died. The show\u2019s co-creator and star, Seth Rogen, revealed last week how \u201cThe Studio\u201d will address her tragic passing.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIf anything, we\u2019re acknowledging the idea that we are a little anchor-less. But, honestly, that is a part of life and what we all experience,\u201d he\u00a0said in an interview with the Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so, while we try not to dwell too much on heavy themes in this show, they will be there in this second season. We are not ignoring it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian\u2019s co-creator, Evan Goldberg, noted that Catherine\u2019s sudden death sent \u201cshock waves\u201d throughout the cast.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been an unbelievable challenge. Obviously, emotionally, dealing with the loss, but also when it comes to the show itself,\u201d he said about moving forward without the \u201cBeetlejuice\u201d actress. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe wrote it for her to be there.
