{"id":589760,"date":"2026-04-08T07:30:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T07:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/589760\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T07:30:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T07:30:13","slug":"b-c-governments-u-s-coffee-truck-promotion-cost-taxpayers-165-a-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/589760\/","title":{"rendered":"B.C. government\u2019s U.S. coffee truck promotion cost taxpayers $165 a cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A B.C. government promotion to hand out free coffee and tea to recruit U.S. health-care workers to move to the province to work came with a hefty price tag.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Taxpayers Federation submitted a Freedom of Information request to find out how much the two-day initiative in June 2025 in Seattle cost B.C. taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis process took so long because government and the third party were fighting tooth and nail to prevent taxpayers from seeing these documents,\u201d Carson Binda with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation told Global News.<\/p>\n<p>He said they decided to file the Freedom of Information request after B.C.
