And if you wanted something under that, you’re basically looking at a time when flip phones were still cool, and nobody knew what a bidding war was.

So to see a detached “house” pop up for under $300,000 in 2026? Yeah, you can practically hear the collective double-take across the city.

Because yes, 44 Mahoney Ave. is technically listed as a detached property. And yes, the price tag is sitting at a very attention-grabbing $299,900.

The back of the house.

But before you start drafting your “I bought a house in Toronto for less than a condo parking spot” announcement, there’s just one tiny little detail…

It’s not actually livable.

According to the listing, this “detached home” is being sold as a vacant lot.

The listing makes it crystal clear that the place is not inhabitable with a very aggressive “PROPERTY BEING SOLD AS IS WHERE IS” and an equally comforting “DO NOT ENTER PROPERTY” warning.

There are also zero interior photos, which really lets your imagination run wild. Is it gutted? Collapsing? Haunted? Who’s to say!

Located near Weston and Jane, the property is essentially a blank slate — pitched as an opportunity for builders, developers, or investors to “create their dream home.”

The backyard.

And while this isn’t exactly Toronto’s most obvious “build your forever mansion” neighbourhood — especially with the average detached home sitting around $751,500 and values down roughly 23 per cent since 2024 — the low entry price does open the door to some interesting math.

Because if you can keep construction costs in check (big if), there’s still potential upside.

Homes in the area have cracked the $1 million mark, and with ongoing transit expansion and major development projects in the works, the neighbourhood is clearly entering its glow-up era.

The back of the house.

So sure, it’s not exactly a turnkey situation.
