Adrian Grenier may not be in \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2,\u201d but he found a way to cash in on all the hype surrounding the film.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Grenier, who played Anne Hathaway\u2019s character\u2019s (somewhat toxic) boyfriend Nate in the first \u201cDevil Wears Prada\u201d movie, appeared in a new Starbucks ad touting nothing but \u201cgood energy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou might\u2019ve seen the headlines,\u201d he started off in the ad for Starbucks\u2019 new Energy Refreshers. \u201cI wasn\u2019t asked to be a part of a certain sequel. But, I\u2019m good. Really. It\u2019s all good energy.\u201d<\/p>\n
As Grenier went on, he toasted to his character Nate, who he said \u201cmade a mean sandwich and loved his girlfriend \u2013 to a point.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOkay, so he wasn\u2019t perfect,\u201d Grenier added. \u201cSo, let\u2019s leave Nate in 2006 and keep this good energy going \u2026 I mean, if they call, I\u2019m free.\u201d Watch the ad for yourself below.<\/p>\n
Grenier\u2019s tongue-in-cheek ad comes nearly a month<\/a> after the actor shared his belief that his character was left out of the sequel due to the \u201cbacklash\u201d that emerged in the two decades since the first film came out.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re all fans of the movie, whether or not we\u2019re in it. Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn\u2019t get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand there\u2019s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it,\u201d he told\u00a0Page Six in March. \u201cBut I think that just leaves room for a spinoff.\u201d<\/p>\n Back in 2021, Grenier admitted he was initially shocked by all the pushback to Nate, noting to Entertainment Weekly, \u201cI didn\u2019t see some of the subtleties and the nuance of this character and what it represented in the film until the wisdom of the masses came online and started to push against the character and throw him under the bus, and I got flak.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cAll those memes that came out were shocking to me. It hadn\u2019t occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time. And in many ways, he\u2019s very selfish and self-involved; it was all about him.
